Laminate hard wood surfaces are the newest member in the hard surface flooring. Decorating with Tile and Stone
Chase Carpets has over 1,000 unique, diverse and beautiful varieties of tiles. We install porches, showers, kitchen splashes, etc. Some of which are products of nature, have been valued for their beauty and durability for as long as people have found shelter. The oldest form of floor covering known to man has been ceramic tile. Discoveries of ancient ceramics, similar to modern ceramic tile, have been found on the banks of the Nile River in Egypt.
Our Ceramic tile is a mixture of clays which have been shaped and fired at high temperatures, resulting in a hard body. The two basic types of tile are unglazed and glazed.
-Unglazed tiles are simply baked pieces of clay in which the colors run throughout the body. They are the work horses of the industry and are generally thicker and denser than glazed tiles.
-Glazed tiles are made the same way as unglazed, but a glass wear layer (the glaze) is fused to its surface with tremendous heat. Glazed tiles are primarily suited for residential and light to medium commercial installations.
There are several natural stone products; some that are commonly known are travertine, marble, tumbled marble, slate, quartzite, and granite.
